Kevin Hart, Kristen Stewart and Idris Elba are just some of the actors appearing in more than one film hitting theaters from May-August.
If you’re experiencing deja vu at the movies this summer, it’s understandable. In addition to the many sequels and reboots, a number of actors are making repeat performances on the summer movie screen, starring in at least two movies released in the May-August stretch. Some, like Zac Efron, Kristen Stewart and Margot Robbie can be seen in two live-action films while others like Kevin Hart, Seth Rogen and Kristen Wiig are gracing the screen in one film and voicing an animated character in another.
This past weekend’s box-office champ, The Secret Life of Pets, features at least two repeat performers: Hart and Albert Brooks, both returning to theaters (or at least their voices are) just weeks after the June 17 releases of Central Intelligence and Finding Dory, respectively. Meanwhile, last Friday’s other big new release, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, marks the second movie of the summer 2016 season from Efron, who previously appeared in May’s Neighbors 2, and the first of two for Adam Devine, also voicing a happy wooly mammoth in Ice Age: Collision Course hitting theaters later this month.
And this week, Cafe Society stars Stewart, Blake Lively and Jesse Eisenberg will each make one of their two big-screen appearances this season, with Stewart’s second film, Equals, hitting theaters the same day.
