They have been paired in three films — Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express and Happy New Year — together and if all goes well, Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan will team up once again for Aanand L Rai’s untitled next.
“Discussions are almost through and she is likely to sign the film soon,” reveals the source. The film in question is creating a buzz even before it hits floors because SRK plays a dwarf for the first time. However, Rai has made it clear it will be a full-fledged love story with a lot of romance, song-and-dance. While speculation was rife that Katrina Kaif had been approached for the film, it’s Deepika who will be on board, insists our source.
Interestingly, Rai, who has worked on two films with Kangana Ranaut (Tanu Weds Manu and its sequel), chose to work with her rival DP for his big outing. The director is known to make female-centric films and that’s why he’s on the wishlist of top heroines looking to add substance to their resume.
Although when Anand was quizzed about the film and the star cast at the trailer launch event of Happy Bhaag Jayegi, he had said, “Haan, Shah Rukh Khan ke saath ek film ban rahi hai, lekin abhi tak film ke liye koi actress final nahi hui hai. Main abhi bhi script likh raha hoon (Yes, I am making a film with Shah Rukh Khan. However, the actress has not been finalised yet. I am also writing the script till now).” Well someone is trying to keep the cast a secret!
