Karan Johar is back with Koffee With Karan season 5 and let us tell you that this time, it has just got even more controversial or so did it seem! All those “rumours” that you have been getting to hear about Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt’s personal lives, Karan is here to spill the beans on the juiciest gossip you’ve heard about your favourite Bollywood celeb. All the previous seasons of Koffee With Karan have been extremely entertaining. But does the popular chat show live upto its hype? Let’s find that out.
What’s hot
The setup of the show this time is more colourful, vibrant and jubilant. The sets have been undergone a massive transformation from chic and classy to a little quirky and vivacious. It is all bright and colourful and has got a very lively feel to it.
Talking about the episode, it goes without saying that Karan is the Sass King of Bollywood. He managed to ask the most controversial questions right in the start of the inaugural episode but Alia had the most diplomatic answers. For the longest time now, we have been hearing “stories” of Alia and Sidharth Malhotra’s love affair. The duo has never admitted to being in a relationship which has just added fuel to fire. The episode kickstarts with Karan getting all upfront and bold with Alia and discusses her love life on national television. But Ms Bhatt is NOT dating Sidharth, at least that’s what she claimed. When KJo asked her about her list of rumoured love affairs with Varun Dhawan first and then Sidharth Malhotra, she said, “I never dated Varun. And I am not dating Sidharth either. I am dating none of them and I am single right now.”
From talking about his experience of working with Alia in Dear Zindagi, to Salman Khan to give some important gyaan, Shah Rukh had A LOT to say.. Oh and let me tell you, he nailed the rapid fire round! And guess what? He won the gift hamper.. for the fourth time! Well, obviously! Shah Rukh and Karan have been the best of buddies since time immemorial and their “chemistry” was pretty much evident all throughout the episode. More than Alia, it was SRK who pumped up the atmosphere. Shah Rukh, who has always been witty, this time too, had some really cool answers to every question put forth by KJo. All in all, the first episode of Koffee With Karan season 5 was one helluva entertainer, all thanks to King Khan! And just FYI, Alia WON the general knowledge quiz this time.. Can you believe it?
What’s not
Initially it keeps you hooked but thats only for the first fifteen twenty minutes and that’s that. As it goes further it gets a little boring until the rapid fire session and the general knowledge quiz. It would have been interesting if Karan would have come up with a new set of games or maybe the format of the show would have been completely changed just like the sets got revamped!
The first episode of Koffee With Karan 5 didn’t really live upto the hype, at least in my opinion. It could have got a little more juicier, you know? If I had to rate it on a scale of 10, I’d give it a satisfactory 7.
