Exciting, intriguing and interesting – the first trailer of the upcoming Netflix film Lust Stories is out and it sure seems like a movie we should watch out for. After the immense success of Love Per Square Foot, Ronnie Screwvala is backing this anthology film. There are four short stories in the film, each directed by a reputed filmmaker – Karan Johar, Dibaker Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap. The movie stars an ensemble of actors like Radhika Apte, Neha Dhupia, Vicky Kaushal, Jaideep Ahlawat, Manisha Koirala, Akash Thosar, Sanjay Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Neil Bhoopalam, Kiara Advani.
From the first look of Lust Stories, we are very impressed. Though, we do feel a more subtle name could have been picked for the movie. But again, the title is any day better than Bombay Talkies 2. In case you did not know the movie was rumoured to have that title in the early stages of production. While a peppy romantic track plays in the background, we are introduced to the basic premise of the four stories. I am looking forward to watching the story featuring Bhumi Pednekar where she plays a maid in love with her employer – it has been directed by Zoya. Also, I already see the twist coming in the Kiara Advani story, which has been directed by KJo. Lust Stories will release on June 15.
“Lust Stories, four short films that deal with real-life relationships in modern India and brought together as one film brilliantly under a common theme by Anurag, Dibakar, Karan and Zoya is a perfect premiere for global audiences on Netflix,” Ronnie has said in a statement.
Netflix is trying its best to draw the interest of Indian audience. Apart from Lust Stories, it is also gearing up to launch its first Indian original web series, Sacred Games. Then, Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment is also producing a show for Netflix. We are excited about this lineup!
