Padmaavat is in no mood to slow down at the box office!!!!!
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat is in no mood to slow down at the box office. Despite new Bollywood and Hollywood releases, the costume drama continues to dominate at the ticket window. The film raked in Rs 1.20 crore yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 280.50 crore. Padmaavat is currently the eighth highest grosser of all time after Baahubali 2, Dangal, PK, Tiger Zinda Hai, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Dhoom 3. It will surpass the lifetime business of Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 (Rs 284 crore) by its fifth weekend to grab the seventh position in the list.
The magnum opus which features Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in lead roles has received rave reviews unanimously from the critics and movie buffs especially for star performances, direction and amazing cinematography by Sudeep Chatterjee. Apart from the lead cast, the film also features Jim Sarbh, Anupriya Goenka, Aditi Rao Hydari and Raza Murad in key roles. Padmaavat has also crossed the Rs 540 crore mark at the worldwide box office, thus making it one of highest worldwide grossers globally.
Since two Bollywood films Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Welcome to New York are arriving tomorrow, Padmaavat will again face a huge screen crunch. Looking at the current scenario, it seems difficult for the film to achieve the Rs 300 crore mark as it has very limited screens to perform. The film is produced under the banners of Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions and Viacom 18 and is made on the whopping budget of Rs 180 crore including promotion and advertising. The makers also spent Rs 20 crore to convert the film into 3D and IMAX format.
