The Republic day weekend was supposed to begin 2018’s first clash with Padman taking on Aiyaary. But as of now, it still wasn’t a clash of gigantic proportion. Well, that’s about to change completely. It is now confirmed that Padmavat, which was earlier called Padmavati, will release on January 25 along with Akshay Kumar‘s film. Trade has always been saying that clashes are never great. Screens get divided, footfalls get divided and so does the income. But there have been occasions when both the films have benefited while there has been times when none of them could make the cut. So you tell us which film would you like to watch on January 25 – Padman or Padmavat?
To give credit where it is due, Akshay Kumar had confirmed the Republic Day weekend for Padman, the moment 2.0 backed out of the spot. In fact, it happened so quickly that many thought the actor knew the Rajinikanth starrer would postpone its release date and thus, claimed the spot. Aiyaary had moved to some other slot by then but when the makers saw 2.0 has made the shift, they reverted to the Republic Day weekend. However, now we wonder if this Neeraj Pandey venture will release on that day at all.
Padmavati which became Padmavat after it secured a censor certificate, has been looking for a day for release after it missed the December 1 date last year. Republic Day of course is a perfect scenario for it to release as it is a three day weekend which will give it a lot of scope to work its magic at the box office. Now you tell us which one will be your first film to watch on that weekend.
It’s definitely is a win-win for the audience. They will get two movies of completely different genre to enjoy their time at the theatres. This Republic Day will be killer!
