Bigg Boss is the mother of all reality shows that exist in India, and there are no two ways about it. The fact that the show has many versions in the country says it all. There have been eleven successful seasons in Hindi so far, eight of which have been hosted by Salman Khan. Then there are five in Kannada and two in Bengali, and one in both Tamil and Telugu. Yesterday, the makers launched the Marathi version of Bigg Boss, as host Mahesh Manjrekar unveiled the line-up of contestants. And he did a pretty good job, we have to admit. Well, the makers owe one to Salman as it was he who recommended they take Mahesh on-board.
Many of you might not know this but Mahesh was in talks with the producers since quite some time. A source has EXCLUSIVELY revealed, “The team had quite a few big names to choose from the Marathi film industry, but when Salman, who has become the face of Bigg Boss recommended Mahesh’s name as the host for the Marathi version, they didn’t bat an eyelid and got him on-board immediately.”
Of course, after Mahesh got the call, he met Salman, who gave Mahesh some tips on hosting the show. “I met him and he was really excited for me. He also advised me to not hold back myself and laugh and cry with the contestants. Salman also shared that I shouldn’t try to be a host but rather be their friend, philosopher, guide and also a taskmaster whenever required,” he said while interacting with Indian Express.
He also admitted that he has watched Salman as the host and that he can never do what he does. “I can never do what he does. He has his own style and he is brilliant. I will like to bring my own personality and style in the show. I have a very tongue-in-cheek humour and I can also be a deadpan actor, so it’s going to be exciting. There’s always a speculation about how I am in real life and the world will now get to see what’s behind the mask and know me as a person,” Manjrekar was further quoted.
Mahesh himself is quite a big name in both Marathi and Hindi film industry. He has brought his personality to Bigg Boss Marathi now, and we can’t wait to see as to how will he deal with the 14 contestants which he locked inside the Bigg Boss house last night.
