ultan has worked wonders at the box office. But it also has created major trouble for all the people who have worked on it. First it was actor Salman Khan who came under scanner for his comment that he “felt as worn out as a raped woman” after the rigorous shoot for Sultan. Then it was the leading lady of the film, Anushka who was condemned by many critics for the role she chose in the movie which apparently made her compromise with woman’s dignity by giving up her dreams for her husband’s goals. Now, the film’s director Ali Abbas Zafar has followed suit by voicing out his rather sexist opinions.
Recently, in an interview to Anupama Chopra, the filmmaker spoke about how a working woman needs to give up her work once she gets pregnant. He said, “Whenever the issue of pregnancy comes in, the girl may be a working woman, but now she will have to give up her work because psychically she needs to do that.”
He goes on to add, “That is the time when getting the so-called animal instinct into human being, the man will go an hunt and the woman will stay at home and we can’t deny it.”
In the film ‘Sultan’, Anushka gives up her wrestling career for the birth of her child. Talking about the same, Ali says, “She had to choose whether she chooses something aspirational or emotional. She kills her aspiration for an emotional thing and according to me that is a very human thing.”
