Opening Ceremony Releases Short Film About Fall 2016 Pageant of the People Fashion Show [YouTube]
Just in time for Election Day, Opening Ceremony has released a short film that gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at their “Pageant of the People” fall 2016 presentation from September’s New York Fashion Week, which saw Rashida Jones, Whoopi Goldberg, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein speaking on world issues that they care about. “We wanted to do a show where we get people to talk about politics,” said OC CEO Carol Lim of the presentation. Added creative director Humberto Leon, “Opening Ceremony is a place that welcomes all different people from all walks of life.”
Philipp Plein to Show at New York Fashion Week [WWD]
Philipp Plein, the Switzerland-based men’s and women’s luxury designer known for his over-the-top presentations which, last season, included a chair swing, a Rolls Royce and Fergie, is moving his show from Milan to New York in a move aimed at increasing his presence in the U.S. market. The 38-year-old German designer also is launching a women’s luxury activewear collection called Plein Sport in Milan later this month.
& Other Stories Opens at The Americana at Brand in Glendale [Pret-a-Reporter Inbox]
H&M’s cool-girl little sister line, & Other Stories, is taking over SoCal. The brand will follow its Beverly Hills shop, which opens Wednesday, with another at The Americana at Brand in Glendale, which is set to open in the spring. In addition to the Los Angeles County stores, the brand also opened a shop in Orange County at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.
