Diwali is not just big for Bollywood but down South as well. Last year, we saw what Mersal did on the festival season. It created such euphoria that even Twitter acknowledged it as the most talked about movie on the social media platform. This year too Vijay will be back at the theatres with Sarkar which already has a huge buzz surrounding it and now we have Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan starrer Thugs Of Hindostan vying for the spot. However, that’s not all. Dhanush’s Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta is also gearing up for a Diwali release. So this Diwali will be fiery down South with one Hindi film and two Tamil films battling for audience’s affection.
Aamir Khan has secured a Diwali release after decades and more. The last film of his which got a Diwali seat was Raja Hindustani (1996). That obviously makes it pretty interesting! Plus, it’s one of the most expensive Hindi films to release this year with a budget of approximately Rs 250 crore. With Aamir, we can rest assured that it will be something everyone will wait to watch. Also, there’s Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. It’s one of the biggest YRF movies ever. All that makes it a big box office deal.
As for Vijay’s Sarkar, Mersal has established that nobody beats the superstar on Diwali. In fact, he apparently has a fascination for this festival for his releases and thus despite knowing, there were others on the list, Sarkar’s release date never got shifted. In fact, Suriya pushed the release of NGK further to avoid the clash. But Dhanush feels it’s fine to release his film Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta on Diwali.
